Position: Communications Manager (Dutch-speaking)
Experience: Minimum 3 years
Availability: 32–40 hours per week
Location: Rotterdam, the Netherlands
Start date: As soon as possible

KCAP is a globally renowned design firm specialising in urbanism, architecture and landscape design. With studios in Rotterdam, Zürich, and Paris, our diverse team of 100+ professionals is united by a commitment to shaping human-centred, resilient, and future-proof environments.

We’re looking for a creative, driven, and hands-on Communications Manager to strengthen our visibility and voice, someone who understands the value of storytelling, knows how to translate complex ideas into compelling content, and shares our passion for the built environment.

Are you a natural communicator with a feel for aesthetics, strong organisational skills, and a talent for crafting narratives through words, images, and media? Then we’d love to meet you.

Your Role

As our Communications Manager, you will lead and coordinate all aspects of KCAP’s communications, both internal and external. You will work closely with our partners and project leaders to shape and share our stories across a wide range of platforms and formats. Your work helps strengthen KCAP’s identity and connect us with the wider world.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Shaping and protecting KCAP’s brand identity and tone of voice

  • Developing and managing a strategic PR and communications plan

  • Creating engaging stories that bring our work to life, tailored to relevant audiences

  • Maintain strong media relations and coordinate press outreach

  • Manage and update the website, social media, and other communication tools

  • Collaborate with project teams to identify and plan communication opportunities

  • Organise events, lectures, exhibitions, awards submissions, and office presentations

  • Track and report on media performance and communications impact

  • Archive and manage communication materials and project assets

  • What We Offer

  • A creative, collegial, and international working environment with a green garden in Rotterdam

  • A competitive salary based on the Collective Labour Agreement for architectural firms (SFA)

  • A personal development budget to further grow your skills and ambitions

  • Healthy and delicious shared lunches, social events, and informal drinks

  • A temporary contract for 32–40 hours per week, with the intention to extend after mutual satisfaction

Your Profile

We’re looking for a talented communicator who combines creativity with discipline, and who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You are not only organised and precise, but also someone with a strong visual and verbal instinct, a storyteller with a feel for design.

You bring:

  • Proven experience (min. 3 years) in communications, journalism, or PR, ideally in the field of architecture, urbanism, landscape, sustainability, or related sectors

  • A hands-on mindset and ability to work independently while staying closely connected to the team

  • A BA or MA in marketing, communications, journalism, or a similar discipline, or equivalent practical experience

  • Excellent writing and editing skills in both Dutch (native or near-native) and English

  • A good eye for design, branding, and visual communication

  • Confidence in dealing with media, partners, and external collaborators

  • Experience with tools such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, CMS platforms, CRM systems, and social media management tools

  • Knowledge of SEO and digital strategy is a plus

  • Additional language skills (e.g. French or German) are welcome
